MEDISANA´s body analysis scale ISA has been graded “GOOD” by the Stiftung Warentest
Stiftung Warentest has awarded Medisana´s body analysis scales ISA with the quality grade “GOOD”. The experts assessed 19 personal scales just on time for the new year. Eleven of the scales tested were equipped with a body analysis function. According to the test results, all models accurately determined weight to 100 grams. However, three of the personal scales graded “GOOD” measured body weight extremely accurately – including the ISA from MEDISANA.
In addition to measurement accuracy, the testers attached importance to ease-of-use, anti-tip stability, slip-resistance as well as the long-term use of the devices. The ISA from MEDISANA won over the judges with its consistent good and very good results in these areas. However, according to Stiftung Warentest, the prerequisite for this is that the scales are used on firm, even surfaces. Digital scales work using so-called load cells. These chips are hidden in the feet of the devices. When positioned on fluffy carpet, the scales rest on their entire underside instead of the feet only. This can distort measurements by up to 30 kilogrammes, reported the testers. However, when used properly, modern digital scales are considerably more precise than their mechanical predecessors, stated Stiftung Warentest in their summary.
The ISA from Medisana offers functions to measure weight, body fat, body water, muscle and bone mass and to calculate the body mass index. The design is patented. The step-on surface of the scales is made of 8 mm safety glass and has blue LED lights on the edges. Four high-precision strain gauge sensors for precise weight measurements.
