Renewed Award for VitaDock by MEDISANA
MEDISANA wins with its VitaDock the second prize of the EU SME eHealth Competition
Neuss. Following the IT Innovation Award 2012 of the Initiative Mittelstand given to MEDISANA’s VitaDock product range in March, Medisana Space, a subsidiary of the health care specialist, has now won the second prize of the EU SME eHealth Competition for the development of the VitaDock app. Appearing among a total of 97 participating companies and 28 finalists, VitaDock has managed to convince the top-class jury. Ulrich Schulze Althoff, the managing director of Medisana Space, is delighted with the award and emphasises: "Our concept to combine the smartphone with medical measuring devices and make it a lifestyle product using a great app design, has convinced the jury". The VitaDock app is a medically certified application that, in combination with the related VitaDock health monitoring modules, allows to monitor the personal health with the iPhone, iPod touch or iPad.
The prestigious award was presented by Neelie Kroes, the Vice President of the European Commission and EU Commissioner for the Digital Agenda, during the eHealth Week in Copenhagen. The EU SME eHealth Competition is a Europe-wide competition that gives out awards to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) for the development of the best eHealth solutions. The competition was sponsored by many companies in the health care and eHealth sector and supported by 16 associations from all over Europe.
Currently, there are four products of the innovative VitaDock range on the market: GlucoDock – a blood glucose module that, thanks to its diary function, makes the cumbersome process of registering measurement data and insulin units a thing of the past; ThermoDock that converts iPhone, iPad or iPod touch into an infrared thermometer; CardioDock that allows to monitor blood pressure and pulse easily, fast and accurately; and TargetScale, a body analysis scale with the integrated target function, that allows to monitor different weights. The VitaDock app is available free of charge at Apple’s App Store.
